Missions

We define missions at HOTC as God’s plan to send out workers for God, under the authority and power of God, to proclaim the good news about God, among all the nations created by God, to the praise of the glory of God. Simply put, missions is an effort to take the gospel to those whom have not heard that they might hear, believe, and be saved.

Our inspiration for missions is found in Habakkuk 2:14 - "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." (ESV) All of scripture testifies to the fact that God is at work to spread the fame of His name to the ends of the earth. From Genesis to Revelation, we see God working to redeem a people for himself and the exciting part is that he has invited us, his Church, to join him.

At Heart of the City, we are committed to using all that God is blessing us with, whether it be money, time, talents, or any other resource, in order to be a blessing to the nations. Specifically, we are working to spread the gospel globally in Japan, Kenya, and Russia. We are also engaged on a local level through prison ministry, simulcasting, and online outreach.

Going forward, our prayer is that we would be granted a greater capacity to carry out the Great Commission recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
